Enjoy public speaking? Are you kidding?
I am not kidding. In fact, I have a plan to get your natural poise and good humour to be the foundation of your public speaking power.
Being impressive when you speak at work looks like something you’re born with… but that is simply not true: impressive speakers pick it up from their environments.
My new class has secrets to share, and delightful games to practice, laughter to be laughed… the skills seep into you while you hardly notice. It’s very effective.
Even for me?
If you easily talk to people one-to-one, tell great stories at the pub, and are delightful at dinner parties… then yes, you CAN beat the butterflies, win round a wobbly voice, and still your racing mind so that you actually have a good time speaking in meetings and in presentations.
But I have to learn to be someone different and better to be a good speaker, don’t I?
Modern leadership isn’t about posturing, or layering on elaborate techniques of, oh I don’t know, standing with a wide stance and pausing with your hands out while you stare at people. That’s just weird and manipulative and feels gross.
What we need today is the courage to be a real human being with intelligence, a sense of humour and sensitivity to what’s happening in front of you. We are longing for your creativity, your presence, and your warmth – the things that make you the wonderful human you are – and when you feel good about showing those things, that’s real confidence, and it makes you so watchable, trustworthy and powerful.
‘Improvised’ means no script, though…
Yes. As the world speeds up, thinking on your feet becomes one of the most valuable skills a person can have. Plus, the stage presence you get from improvising IS the secret sauce for when you deliver scripted talks.
I wanted to put all the magic I see when I teach a group improv comedy class, and the power of my one-to-one voice coaching sessions, into a new kind of public speaking class.
What have you done?
I’ve cooked up a unique blend of voice science, psychology, and improvised comedy techniques and I’m dosing them out over a 4-week term in London Bridge, so you can command the stage with unforgettable warmth and magnetic joy!
There are 2 main parts…
1. The Physical Stuff – dealing with the electric charge of speaking to a group – one human to many humans
2. The Idea Stuff – structure, storytelling and language patterns – knowing what to say
… delivered in easy-going group games, fun pair exercises, building up to addressing the room in a way that feel fun and doable.
Being your best, cleverest, most naturally confident self in presentations, meetings and dealing with questions off-the-cuff is possible… and it starts here!
Next 4-week term starts:
Wednesday, 4th March
7-9pm
The Kings Arms, Borough, London SE1 1YT

“Oh, she’s a natural,” they’ll say in the office, as you cackle to yourself remembering how you learned it all while crying laughing and having a brilliant evening with your new improv friends.
